A dwarf herbaceous perennial with narrow, mid-green leaves and large, star-shaped, violet-blue flowers opening from inflated, balloon-like buds all summer.
Balloon flower is a member of the Campanulaceae family and is a hardy perennial throughout much of the United States. It can generally be grown in USDA Zones 3 through 8. It reaches 1 to 2 feet tall depending on the cultivar, and the taller varieties sometimes require staking. Good for rock gardens, containers, borders
