This dense, mounding, upright-branching, evergreen shrub thrives in sunny coastal climates. Reddish stems with whorls of bright green foliage develop showy yellow bracts that reveal yellow cone-like flowers at the tips during winter and into spring, adding dynamic color highlights to the landscape. A frost-tender perennial, hardy to 25°F, might need winter protection in Zone 7b
