Gaillardia aristata
This heat-tolerant plant provides months of fiery color in the garden. Big bi-color blooms blanket a low, mounding clump of green foliage. The flowers feature an eye-catching contrast of bright yellow surrounding deep red hues. An easy-care perennial, grows 15-17 inches tall and wide.
Thrives in organically rich, loose, well-drained soils. Water deeply, regularly during first growing season to establish an extensive root system. Once established, reduce frequency; tolerates mild, periodic drought. Feed sparingly. Remove spent blooms to encourage profuse flowering. Cut back to 3 in. above ground in early spring.
