The Texas Red Oak is a small to medium shade tree, ranging from 30 to 70 feet with spreading branches. A close relative to the Shumard Oak, it's commonly known as the Texas Red Oak or Buckley's Oak, and can be found mainly in Texas and Oklahoma. It is smaller than the Shumard and will tend to have multiple trunks. Its leaves turn to bright oranges and reds in the fall and the bark can range from light gray to dark gray with plate-like scales.
