A compact, semi-evergreen shrub with upright, gracefully arching stems bearing glossy, oval dark green leaves with a bronze tinge when young. In midsummer, abundant clusters of lilac-pink, funnel-shaped flowers adorn the bush until fall. Their attractive bronze-tinged calyces further enrich the display and persist well after the flowers fall. The foliage turns purple-bronze in the fall.
Grows up to 3-5 ft. tall and wide.
This plant is easily grown in average, medium-moisture, well-drained soils, full sun or part-shade. Best flower production in full sun. Provide a sheltered location to help prevent hard freeze damage. Blooms on new wood, so prune as needed in late winter to early spring. May need hard pruning every 3 to 4 years.
