Kroenleinia grusonii, popularly known as the golden barrel cactus, golden ball, "mother-in-law's cushion" or "mother-in-law's chair", is a species of barrel cactus which is endemic to east-central Mexico. Terrific at adding texture, color, and shape to the landscape, this eye-catching desert plant looks spectacular next to blue plants, such as agaves. Best planted close together, does well among rocks and boulders.
Prefers well-drained soils, and its roots can rot if left in standing water, preferring the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Don't let the body of the cactus get wet in bright sunlight ,to avoid sunburn, fungal infections, or death. Feed with a high potassium fertilizer in the spring. Drought tolerant
