Loropetalum chinense 'Pipa's Red'
Long, narrow, very rich burgundy foliage on beautiful, tiered, fountain-like branching is the perfect backdrop for the hot pink, fringe-like flowers. A superb foundation or hedge plant that will infuse year-round color into the landscape. Wonderful for use as a dramatic accent in borders and containers. Evergreen above 0°F. Moderate growing; reaches 5 ft. tall and slightly wider.
Provide organically rich, neutral to slightly acidic, well-drained soil. Keep roots cool with a thick layer of mulch. Water deeply and regularly during first growing season to establish an extensive root system. Once established, reduce frequency; tolerates mild drought. Feed with an acid fertilizer after bloom.
